Key academic partners include Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Turiba University (Latvia), Luleå University of Technology (Sweden), FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and University of Caen Normandy (France).

The consortium also includes vocational training institutions, business organisations and innovation hubs such as Cluj Innovation Park (Romania), ensuring strong links between education, research and the labour market.

Project objectives

AI4GreenBus addresses the growing need for green and digital skills in Europe. The project aims to:

  • Develop competencies in AI-driven sustainable business innovation, supporting the transition to a greener and more circular economy.
  • Strengthen collaboration between higher education, vocational education and enterprises to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Equip students, teachers and entrepreneurs with new digital and green skills, enabling them to design innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
  • Promote international cooperation and inclusive innovation ecosystems across Europe.

Innovative learning and training programme

A central outcome of the project will be the development of an innovative micro-credential education programme (15 ECTS) focused on AI-enabled Sustainable Business Model Innovation (AI-SBMI). The programme will provide interdisciplinary training combining entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, digitalisation and sustainability.

To support experiential learning, the project will also develop a Sustainable Business Metaverse Incubator, an immersive environment where learners can use AI and virtual reality tools to design, test and develop sustainable start-up ideas.

Target groups and impact

AI4GreenBus will engage a wide range of stakeholders including students, teachers, entrepreneurs and regional authorities. Over the course of the project:

  • more than 200 students will develop competencies in AI-driven sustainable business innovation,
  • 50 teachers will strengthen their teaching expertise in this emerging field,
  • at least 10 entrepreneurs will launch innovative start-ups,
  • and several regional stakeholders and labour market actors will benefit from new innovation tools and training opportunities.

Contribution to Europe’s green and digital transition

By combining artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and sustainability, AI4GreenBus contributes to the priorities of the Erasmus+ programme: fostering innovation, supporting the green transition, and strengthening cooperation between education and industry. The project will help prepare the next generation of professionals capable of designing sustainable, technology-driven business solutions for Europe’s future economy.
